JFC-Micro has provided technical cooperation for SME Bank of Cambodia to develop their human resources and its credit operations, as an ODA project of Policy Research Institute (PRI) of Ministry of Finance (MOF), Japan.

Seminar on SME finance for SME Bank of Cambodia
JFC-Micro, requested by the Policy Research Institute (PRI), held a seminar on SME finance for SME Bank of Cambodia. There were 25 participants from SME Bank of Cambodia. Through this seminar, we implemented some lectures on SME Finance in Japan, roles of JFC-Micro, credit analysis methods for SMEs. The lectures included "qualitative analysis" which grasps enterprises' conditions through interviews and site-visits and "qualitative analysis" which analyzes financial statements. The seminar was quite active, as the participants asked many questions about policy-based finance and credit analysis methods for SMEs, and they also actively worked on exercises. We plan to continue to support Cambodia's SME finance sector through holding seminars and discussions in Cambodia and Japan.

Seminar on Supporting Start-up for SME Bank of Cambodia
JFC-Micro and PRI held a seminar on Supporting Start-up for SME Bank of Cambodia. There were 33 participants, including staff from SME Bank and two staff from Techo Startup Center, a start-up support organization for start-up companies in Cambodia. PRI made lectures on "Activities of PRI and policy-based financing in Japan" and JFC-Micro made lectures on "Current situation of start-up in Japan", "JFC's support for start-up" and "Points of making a business plan". It was a very successful seminar, with many questions and opinions from the participants regarding the differences between the start-up situation in Cambodia and Japan, the concept of loans for start-up, how to evaluate business plans etc. We plan to continue to support Cambodia's SME finance sector through holding seminars and discussions in Cambodia and Japan.
May 20 - 24, 2024
Seminar in Japan for SME Bank of Cambodia
In May 2024, JFC accepted 17 executives and staff from SME Bank of Cambodia, and held a five-day seminar for 10 staff from the head office and branches who are in charge of lending operations. The seminar included the lectures from specific departments of JFC-Micro on credit analysis, credit management, risk management, human resource development, and collaboration with related organizations etc. In addition, the participants visited a JFC-Micro's Branch, a Chamber of Commerce, and our customer. Through these activities, staff of SME Bank gained a deeper understanding of operations of JFC-Micro's support for SMEs. There were many questions and exchanges of opinions at the lectures and visiting sites, making the seminar fruitful. Participants commented, "Through the lectures and site visits, we realized that each staff of JFC-Micro understands their role and they are sincerely engaged in their work. We would like to utilize what we learned, improving our business operations and human resource development, and to solve each issue in Cambodia."

Seminar on SME Finance for SME Bank in Cambodia
In November 2024, we held the 3rd seminar on SME finance for SME Bank in Cambodia. There were 33 participants from SME Bank. The seminar included the review of the “Points of Credit Analysis Method of JFC-Micro” and lectures about the credit analysis on the restaurant, manufacturing and transportation industries. In addition, in order to make this seminar more practical, we offered the case study on a “Dried Mango Manufacturing Industry”. The participants filled out the credit analysis format along with the analysis procedure. We provided an opportunity for participants to learn about the credit analysis methods and interview techniques of JFC-Micro. The participants actively engaged in the lectures and the case study, and exchanged their opinions, making the seminar very fruitful. After the seminar, the participants commented that they felt they deepened their understandings by absorbing the credit analysis method more practically based on what they had learned in previous seminars. We plan to continue to support Cambodia’s SME finance sector through holding seminars and discussions.
