About "APEC Financial Institutions Dealing with SMEs"

Based on the proposal by Thailand, which was a host country of APEC at that time, this meeting has been held every year since the Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) was signed by 12 financial institutions dealing with SMEs from nine countries & economies in 2003. Now, 13 financial institutions from eleven countries & economies are member institutions. The result of a discussion is reported to the APEC Finance Minister's Meeting of the year. From Japan, Micro Business and Individual Unit (Former National Life Finance Corporation) and Small and Medium Enterprise Unit (former JASME) signed the MOU and have attended it. After integration, both units have attended meetings as JFC.

The Contents of Memorandum of Understanding(MOU)

Purposes To exchange views on the topics related to SME finance and to establish a cooperation system among MOU members in order to support SMEs in the APEC region
Areas of Cooperation Financial Cooperation: Debt Financing and Equity Financing, etc.
Technical Cooperation: Informational Exchange, Human Resource Development, Networking and other activities, etc
Others
  • The meeting must be held at least once a year.
  • This MOU bears no legally obligation on the members.
